When you are in DC for a few days every day is an early wake up call. There is so much to fit in, and we were able to get several tours booked as well. The downside of the tours is that you are told when to come, and then you have fit all of your other plans around them. That required a bit of
pre-planning on my part, but it was very much worth it.
Today was Memorial Day, and our first stop of the day was the Washington Monument. Our hotel was a quick walk away from the National Mall and a metro stop. That was a big help this week.
One thing on Macy's "must see" list was the Holocaust Museum. She really enjoyed learning about World War II last year, and it is her choice of era for historical fiction. This was a heavy stop, but I'd highly recommend it.
We wrapped up our stop at the Holocaust Museum and grabbed a quick lunch. That in itself is quite a task in a business district, but we found a place for some yummy sandwiches. Next, we walked across town to the Capitol.
Macy enjoyed this scavenger hunt book she was given for her birthday. She took this with her to see how many different things she could find at each location we stopped at.
