Our Crazy New Adventure

Last summer Marc and I both started to feel unsettled.  We LOVED the home we had built together 5 years earlier, but there was a stirring in both of our hearts that it was time to sell and rebuild again.  The market had increased so dramatically for our house, that taking that increase in equity and putting it toward a new house seemed like the right thing to do.  The plan was to reduce our debt as much as we could. So we casually started looking for land.

Every thing we found was either too expensive or it would require too much land work to get it buildable. Finally in November, we stumbled across 2 acres in Woodstock.  It was off a road that Marc and I have loved for years.  It is a type of lot often referred to as a flagpole lot.  There is a long driveway leading up to a  long, sideways lot - like a flag on a flagpole.

It was already partially cleared, so that was an added bonus. We closed on the land in November and broke ground in January.

We bought the land from our neighbor's brother.  There were certain things belonging to the brother that were supposed to be moved by the time we closed. He moved a couple, but not an old couch, old playground, or broken down van.  I didn't have the greatest attitude about these things, but I have the greatest husband who gathered up this old couch to dispose of it.

After months of asking for the van to be moved, he finally did.  I think it happened when his brother came to visit him and realized he hadn't moved it yet.

Happy 8th Birthday, Brooke!

Brooke has been looking forward to her birthday for months, and it so hard to believe it is finally here! She woke up a little excited. :)

We took her to one of her favorite restaurants for lunch with one of her favorite friends.

We ended the evening with a dinner celebration with family.

She absolutely loved her Chewbacca pajamas from Nini.

So much so that her daddy took her out to breakfast the next day wearing them...
