Finally Crashed

Macy thinks that when we tell her it's time to go to sleep that we really mean it's time to play and read books. Kayla was already asleep and we had to go in a couple of times to tell her to go to bed. She likes to take books over to the nightlight and flip through them. She is very quiet and doesn't wake Kayla, but she stays up too late doing this. Finally all was quiet, and when we went in to kiss the girls good-night one more time we found her asleep like this. I guess she fell asleep before she could get up to her pillow.

7 Month Pictures of an Almost 8 Month Old

Well, better late than never. We are about 2 weeks behind every month taking pictures of Brooke. Third child I guess. At least we're pretty consistent! She's a pretty happy baby and she's starting to really interact and play with us. She loves to play in her exersaucer and to sit and play with some toys on her blankets. We really have to watch out because Kayla and Macy are always leaving toys around the house that are too small for Brooke to play with. Oh, and we can finally leave her in the church nursery. She doesn't scream the entire time anymore. Praise God!

She did great having her picture taken and gave us a lot of smiles with the tongue sticking out. Then she decided it was more fun to eat her foot so picture time was over.

And she kept eating her foot for the rest of the evening...

First Day of Timothy

The girls started their Timothy classes today. Some days I wonder why I'm still teaching Timothy when I have homeschool work to do on Tuesdays as well, but we'll work it out. Macy is so excited to start school. She had a great day and came home telling us all about how Mrs. Heather hurt her foot and a little boy stepped on it today. I think they learned about the letter A as well. :) Kayla is taking an art class, my science class, and her dance class. It's nice not to have to head back to the church for dance another day during the week since we are already there on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Now I'm off to the gym and then I'll spend my evening getting ready for school tomorrow. Thankfully Mrs. Deidre will be taking Kayla to school and bringing her home so I don't have to rush out of the house with 3 little kids. I only have to do that on Mondays.

Kayla's First Day of School

To "celebrate" my birthday I sent my baby off to kindergarten. She has been so excited and I thought she'd never go to sleep last night. She did quite well, though, and was up nice and early ready to get started on her day.


We walked her into the school for her first day. All of the elementary kids meet in the gym before being sent to their classrooms. Her teacher and assistant were in there to greet them. I'm proud to say that not one tear was shed by Kayla or myself.

When we picked her up she told us all about her day and what she learned. She really had a great day. Tomorrow we have our first Timothy classes and then homeschool afternoon. I'm looking forward to getting into a rhythm with our school days and homeschool days.

Open House

Friday night we headed to King's for Open House. Kayla was so excited about meeting her teacher and seeing her classroom. Her teacher is Mrs. Hollenbeck and I think they are going to have a great year.
Mrs. Hollenbeck had coloring sheets out for the kids. Kayla LOVES to color and she wouldn't leave until she had colored every square inch of that piece of paper. Literally. We were one of the last ones to leave.

As I write this post Kayla is upstairs trying to go to sleep. She is so excited, but I think she managed to calm down. We brought Macy downstairs for a little while to let Kayla settle down. They tend to play instead of going to bed, and Kayla needs her 11 hours of sleep. I'm hoping that when we take Macy to bed she'll tip-toe in and go right to sleep. A mom can hope, right?

Brooke's New Trick

Brooke is finally sitting up on her own! I wasn't sure when this day would come. Every time we'd try to get her to sit up she'd lean back. I couldn't get her to even prop herself up with her hands. It has only taken about 2 days to get her balance really good so that I can walk away from her while she is sitting and playing.

Pool Time

The girls have been to the pool several times this year, but I have been really bad about taking pictures. With 3 kids who don't swim (although Kayla is doing much better) it's all hands on deck. Tonight Marc was able to snap a few of Brooke enjoying her float. She's pretty much outgrown her bathing suits. She's finally getting a little chunk on her!

Awanas

We have started another year of Awanas. Kayla is now in Sparks and Macy is finally a Cubbie. She is so excited about her vest and probably would have worn it every day if it had been accessible for her. Kayla and I worked on her first Bible verse just in case they started listening the first night, but she said they were too busy. Marc and I are the listeners for Macy's cubbie's class. It's always interesting to listen to little 3 year olds quote Scripture. It was a crazy night with 20 little kids, and mostly boys! Macy seemed to enjoy herself and she keeps talking about "Emily's mom" who led the assembly. As soon as she starts talking about Cubbies, she goes straight into talk about Emily's mom, and then straight into going to Emily's birthday party. The girl is too funny. I can't wait to see what it's like getting her to memorize Bible verses!

Ballet Classes

Ballet classes started this week for the girls. We are now taking lessons at our church. They were both excited to start, but especially Macy. She is so proud to be wearing the dance clothing and now she has her very own shoes and dance bag.

Kayla's "small" skirt is too big so she will have to wear her sister's "toddler" skirt.

Mother-Daughter Tea

Kayla has been so blessed this year in Sunday School to have Mr. John and Mrs. Jo as her teachers. They are WONDERFUL and she loves going to class. Last Saturday they had all of the moms and daughters over to their house for a Mother-Daughter Tea. The girls had a great time playing together one last time before they are split up into different classes in the elementary department. She has been blessed with amazing teachers since she was 18 months old and we're so excited that her Kindergarten teachers are good friends of ours!

Summer Hobbies

We've been enjoying our last few weeks of summer. Many of our friends' kids started school today, but we still have 2 weeks. We're trying to squeeze in all kinds of fun things. The most exciting thing is that Kayla has started swimming! It happened all of a sudden. She can go about 10 feet before needing to come up for air, but for a child who hated to get her face wet a few months ago this is amazing! She swims one handed because she has to hold her nose. I bought her a snorkeling set so she would have a mask that covered her nose too, but she doesn't even like the few drops that remain in the mask, so she's still swimming one handed for now.

The girls really enjoyed dance camp. This was Macy's first time dancing and it is so cute when she shows us the things that she learned. She is so excited about starting classes next week.

I have been on a mad dash to get caught up with my scrapbooks. I pulled everything down to the dining room table and gave myself a 2 1/2 week time frame to get caught up with our vacation album, as well as Kayla and Macy's albums that needed to have 8 months of pictures put in them. I'm happy to say that I only have 1 small vacation to put in our album (the Disney pictures took up TONS of time), 1 more page of Kayla's album, and about 3 more pages in Macy's album. This is HUGE. I should have all of my pictures in there this week and all I'll have to go back and do is some journaling. In the process of me getting these done Kayla has taken an interest in scrapbooking. I let her have the extra pictures that I didn't end up from Disney World and she has had SO much fun making her own scrapbook.
