5 Months Old
Technically she is 5 months and 2 weeks, but that's okay. We finally set aside some time to get some pictures of her. I think they turned out pretty good even if I didn't have my best camera. Believe it or not, Marc is the better "people photographer" and I'm a better "scenery photographer." We haven't had a chance to play around with the brightness of these pictures, but I wanted to get them up on the blog before she was 6 months old. :) I know I'm biased, but I LOVE her eyes. The blue is so bright. All of my girls have gorgeous eyes. Oh, and it looks like we might be getting a little blondie in this family. Her hair keeps getting lighter. I know my mom is exicted about that. She's been wanting a blond hair blue-eyed babe.

To Laugh or Not to Laugh
Potty training Macy has been interesting, to say the least. The girl knows full well what is expected of her, but she is usually too busy playing, watching TV, painting, or something else to stop and run to the restroom. If we take her every couple of hours all is dandy, but at some point she needs to learn to tell us that she needs to go. Tonight Marc and I were just a little uneasy about her being upstairs by herself after drinking a lot for dinner. Marc runs up and of course she had totally emptied her bladder in her room. Right next to the doll house she didn't want to stop playing with. When they come downstairs Marc said "she knew what she was doing. She pulled her dress up so she wouldn't pee on it." I find this absolutely hilarious. Marc, who cleaned up the mess, not so much. I'll just have to excuse myself from the room because every time I think about it I start laughing.
Those Swimming Pictures I Promised...
they may or may not get posted. I spent 7 days in a nice little routine of taking them to practice, getting them changed, and getting everyone back in time for dinner. On day 8 Marc left work early to watch the girls on their last day of lessons. Since Marc and my mom were there I left Brooke sleeping in the stroller with them. When the girls were done I forgot to grab their flip flops so they didn't have to walk on that nasty hallway, then I almost forgot my bag that had their change of clothes in it. Can you tell this is going downhill? Well I got them all changed and we left. Today we were going to take some pictures of the girls and we gather everything we need to head out to a pretty area and I just need my camera. Can't find it. Then I remember it's in the red bag that I took to swim practice. Can't find the red bag. I finally come to the conclusion that I left the bag hanging in an open locker where I was changing the girls clothes. Went back today and it's not in the lockers or in the lost and found. The lockers get cleaned out every night so my only hope at this point is that someone noticed there was a camera in it and it was locked in the safe. A safe that can only be opened by someone working Monday through Friday. So I will call on Monday and hope I have a camera. If not we will get a nicer one that we have been eyeing, but this is not how I wanted to go about getting a new camera...

Swim Lessons
The girls are taking swimming lessons at the Y. We were able to get one of a few free slots for City of Canton residents. They won't be swimming at the end of the 2 weeks, but I have already seen so much improvement in how comfortable they are in the water. Plus they are learning so many basics that we can continue to work on. These pictures are from the first day of class. Today is the last class so I'll hopefully remember to take my camera and get a few more pictures.

Fun with Friends
On Saturday we met up with some friends at a new play place we found. The kids had such a great time and it was hard to get them to leave for lunch. They had a really neat floor that would change colors as you stepped on it. I thought it was more interesting than the girls did, but they did play on it for a little while. The lighting on the pictures is a little off. We found out our camera could do a lot more than we thought and we're still learning and playing around with it. I didn't have time to check what settings it was on.
My creative little Macy decided to take the toy donkeys and make herself a merry-go-round. I was pretty impressed that she thought of it and assembled it all on her own.

A Little Bit Bigger
Brooke had a follow-up appointment today for her weight. In 2 weeks she has gained 6oz. making her a whopping 11lbs. 14oz. While we'd love to see her gain a pound, she is growing and staying on that 5% curve. Normally the doctor and I wouldn't care if she was small, but considering the dramatic lack of gain from 2 to 4 months, we both want her get get some meat on her bones. She goes back in about a month for her 6 month check-up, so hopefully she'll get up to at least 13lbs. She did grow an inch in the last month and her head is still right on track thankfully. The doctor said a lack of weight gain leads to a lack of length gain which leads to a lack of head growth. That's where the problem would be. During those 2 months she didn't gain much weight or length, but thankfully her head is growing perfectly. She is starting to outgrow some of her 0-3 month clothes now. Usually when I have to start packing those away I have an emotional moment. This time I'm ready to see her in some of those cute 6 month dresses and know she is getting bigger!

Sprinkler Fun
Just a cute Brooke picture thrown in.
Macy got a sprinkler for her birthday. It's quite tame - perfect for Kayla who hates getting water in her eyes. Macy loves it so much she even decided to grab a drink while playing.

My Baby is Growing Up and Hopefully Growing Bigger
We gave Brooke cereal for the first time the other night. She was just shy of 5 months old. I was hoping it would help her sleep a little better, but it really didn't make much of a difference. She is still waking up to eat at least one time at night and a couple of times for her pacifier. On one hand I am completely ready for a good night's sleep, but on the other hand I know she needs it. I don't think I've posted before, but Brooke is too small. She gained 1 pound from two to four months when she should have gained at least 3 pounds. We've worked through some of the issues and I think she is trying to catch up now. She gained half a pound in 2 weeks and we go back next week to see how much she gained in another 2 week time period. I think she might finally be 12lbs. now. At least she is back on the growth curve now - even if she is only at 5%. Hopefully the cereal will help her grow more too.
She was a little tired and cranky when we got started, but she ate it and seemed to enjoy it (in between cranky fits).
She kept leaning forward to get to the spoon and I had to hold her head back so I could get it in her mouth.

Garden... Finally
Our garden is a little late starting this year. With birthdays, a business trip, and a trip to Disney we decided to wait a little before planting it. It helped that the weather was cold later this year. Did I really just say that?
We didn't plant as much as last year, but we had an over-abundance anyway. This year we have tomatoes, cucumbers, and peppers as usual. We are also trying the green beans again. Marc got some fancier rabbit fencing, so hopefully the little critters won't eat our crop again. He also bought some giant sunflowers for the girls to enjoy as well.
