Conversations With Macy

1. Me: Macy, do you need a tissue?
Macy: Nope.
Me: Are you sure? Stop playing with your nose.
Macy: My nose is decorated. I'm getting the decorations off.

2. After playing around with a bunch of kids she didn't know we found her sitting on the ground and she was upset.
Marc: Macy, what's wrong?
Macy: I lost my temper.
Marc: Why did you lose it?
Macy: The boys were kicking.
Me: (knowing she really didn't know what it means to lose your temper) Where did you lose it?
Macy: The boys took it and they threw it on the ground.

3. Macy: Hey, Mom.
Me: Yes, Macy.
Macy: I'm a diva.
Me: What??
Macy: I'm a diva.

Oh my.

Pumpkin Patch #2

We went to Berry Patch Farms last week for Kayla's field trip, but I left Brooke with my mom and only took the older two. Of course I had to take Brooke for some pictures, but we chose Burt's Farm this time. I just love the huge pumpkins there.

Brooke can now stand pretty steady if she is holding on to something.

This girl has some crazy hair! We can't do anything to keep it from sticking strait up in the back.

And who would have thought we'd run into the Andersons while we were there. That seems to happen a lot these days!

Camp Out

The girls had their second backyard camp-out last night. We gave Marc a new tent for Father's Day and they are just now getting around to trying it out. The girls were SO excited.

It is a huge tent and the girls loved playing in there before bedtime.

Pretending to be asleep.

Growing Up in 2010

Things are a little different growing up these days...

Apple Pickin'

Last weekend we went apple picking. My mom came over and we headed up to Mercier Orchards in Blue Ridge. We were there this summer for blueberry picking and couldn't wait to go back for some apples. It just so happened that my favorite Cameo apples were ready for picking too! We bought 2 bags for the girls and headed out on a tractor ride.

They LOVED grabbing apples off of the tree for a little snack.

Brooke just hung out in the baby wrap and enjoyed the day.

I usually just give Macy apple slices so she's never been told what to do with the whole apple. She ate the entire bottom part and was headed into the core before we stopped her.

Everyone had a great day and I think we definitely started another fall tradition.

Field Trip to Berry Patch Farms

Kayla's class had a field trip to Berry Patch Farms for some pumpkin hunting. I took Macy with us and we had a good time. It's always nice to put faces with the names that Kayla comes home talking about. I LOVE her class and the kids in it. They are such a sweet bunch and Kayla has made many new friends.

Kayla is talking to Mrs. Hollenbeck and telling her about the grasshopper that she saw on a pumpkin. Mrs. Hollenbeck is so good about really listening to each of the kids.

After the hayride we enjoyed some yummy apple cider. The girls quickly finished up their cups and I ended up giving them what was left in my cup.

Mommy! Look What I Did!

I have 2 new teeth!

Beach Trip 2010

The condo we stayed at only had one bedroom, but in the hallway there was a closet that had bunk beds inside. The girls were thrilled and thought it was the coolest thing. The over-protective mom in me made sure to lay down the law about what was allowed and what wasn't allowed while in the top bunk.

She finally has chunky baby thighs! Love them! And they are so ticklish too!

This is what Macy was doing within 3 minutes of getting to our spot. Sand in the hair is not easy to get out, but I bit my tongue and let her have at it.

The girls love to feed the seagulls.

But then they got a little too loud for Kayla so she started chasing them and they flew away.

Under a shade, watching my girls play, listening to the waves crash, and cuddling my sleeping baby. It would have been perfect if it weren't for those pesky black flies that kept biting. The bug spray didn't do any good. We read that vinegar keeps them away, and it helped some, but they were still pretty bad.

Macy got pretty brave at going down the slide. It wasn't a very big slide, but she is VERY cautious in the water.Marc enjoyed the slide too.

We took the stroller with us at the beach so that I would have somewhere for Brooke to sit. I wasn't comfortable letting her play in the sand because I didn't want her rubbing it in her eyes. She got tired of watching the waves so she started eating her foot. It's been a while since she's done that.

Beach Trip 2010

We stayed at a condo owned by one of Marc's co-workers. It was a beautiful condo and it has an amazing pool area. The girls had the best time playing. The biting black flies were really bad at the beach, so we spent quite a bit of time here at the pool. I have more pictures to post, but my hubby is on his way home from a business trip and I have a yummy dinner to cook for him.

Brooke enjoyed sitting at the edge of the pool - the same pool that I sat next to for 2 hours and read a book while Marc played with the older girls. My mom kept Brooke at the condo for a nap. It was AMAZING. I love to read, but rarely have the time these days.

The Wharf has a ferris wheel that the girls had been wanting to ride since they first saw it. The anticipation was quite built up when they finally got to ride. Their reactions: Macy said, "this is too dangerous" and Kayla said, "this is going too slow." They did enjoy it though.

Beach Trip 2010

Well, we finally made it to the beach this year. We went to Orange Beach/Gulf Shores and the weather was wonderful. We left Georgia when it was still hot, went to the beach for 4 days, and came home to quite a chill in the air. In fact, the day after we came home I had to turn the heater on in the house! (I won't mention that I left the front door wide open for 2 hours while I was gone taking Kayla to school and going to the grocery store).

The night before we left we took the girls to the beach for some pictures. Macy was tired and a little cranky. Kayla was hungry. Brooke is going through a phase where she doesn't want to be out put down. Even with all of that we did get some cute shots.

There were dragon flies EVERYWHERE. I'm sure Macy would have flipped out if she knew one was on her back. Dragon flies are much cuter when they are a design on kids clothing and linens!

Pajama Day

Last Monday Kayla came home so excited that she got to wear pajamas to school on Wednesday. She wanted to wear a nightgown, but I told her she had to wear pants. The air was just cool enough for long sleeves and she picked out some new pajamas that she hadn't worn yet. I had to pick her up early so we could hit the road to the beach, and when I did she was pulled out of Spanish. Her Spanish teacher stopped teaching to tell me what a great job Kayla is doing in Spanish. I'm so proud of this girl!

Dumb Mommy Mistake #487

The other night, while the family was finishing up dinner, I took Macy across the parking lot to a souvenir shop. To get in the store you had to walk into a sharks mouth. On the way in I noticed a door that said "See What's In a Shark's Stomach - For Kids Only." So on the way out I told her to peek in the hole. She did and jumped back startled. Of course I wanted to see what it was (and note to self I should have done that BEFORE I sent my 3 year old over there). Inside they had a skeleton and a few bloody body parts. I'm sure she has totally forgotten about it now, but it wasn't one of my prouder moments as a mom! I still feel guilty!
