We decided to rent a pontoon boat for the morning. The girls always love this adventure.
We headed over towards Destin and Crab Island.
After trying to figure out how to anchor our boat as to not hit another boat, we floated around and bought ice-cream from a young man selling it from a boat. Crab Island has several "food-boats" and boat vendors.
Back to cruising the Intercoastal Waterway.
We stumbled upon a pod of dolphins. This was the most we have ever seen together, and we enjoyed watching them play. There were a few babies in the group as well.
We always like to find a little island to anchor at and explore for a bit.
We had one last afternoon at the beach, and it didn't disappoint.
Before we headed home we took the girls across the bridge to a water inflatable place. They had the entire thing to themselves for the hour we were there.
We had a little bit of time to kill before our appointment at the sea turtle rescue center, so we decided to walk the pier. The Navarre Pier is the longest pier stretching into the Gulf of Mexico, and we could clearly see how this area of the Florida Coast got the name the"Emerald Coast."
This guy was just perched on the pier railing taking in the activity of the fishermen and pedestrians.
Somehow we managed to get pictures with all of the girls before it flew away.
We're so glad that Nini could join us on this vacation!
We took a tour of the Sea Turtle Rescue Conservatory. This is Sweet Pea. She was hit by a boat and had ingested fishing hooks, and therefore she is not releasable back into the ocean. The girls learned the importance of taking care of our environment and helping to prevent injury and death to animals.
This trip to the beach was so needed and so enjoyed by our family. 2020 has thrown some curveballs at us, but we are so thankful that we are healthy, and that we can safely continue to enjoy life and have family adventures.
