Awana Awards Night

Marc and I had to split up this year to attend two awards night activities. They both have really enjoyed Awanas this year and have had great teachers. They both finished their books and memorized lots of scripture.

Macy's teacher gave her a special award.  She was chosen out her here entire group as the child who stood out the most.  She said that Macy always knew her verses, was so helpful in class, and obedient.  I am so proud of this special little girl!

Celebrating Macy

The girls were so excited to give their present to Macy.  They picked out the lego house that she had been wanting. Lego's have been all the rage here since Kayla's birthday.

Macy had asked for a Kindle for her birthday, and even though we told her that we would get her one if she understood it was mostly for reading and not games, she was still surprised.

We then headed out, grabbed Nini, and went to Legoland as a birthday surprise.

The girls had a great time playing, but soon it was time to head home for Awana awards night.  And what girl's birthday wouldn't be complete without a trip to the nail salon. I love little painted fingers and toes!

Macy is SIX!!

It blows my mind that I am sitting down to write this post.  My middle daughter will be six years old tomorrow.  Six years ago this morning I was headed to the hospital to be induced. I was a ball of nerves anticipating this sweet one. Labor and delivery were not easy, and she gave us a few scares, but God beautifully brought this precious little one into our lives that day. 

Macy,
What a year it has been for you.  Most importantly it is the year of your salvation.  You are my daughter and my sister, and I could not be more proud of you. It is amazing to see the difference in you since asking Christ to forgive you and be your Savior.  You have always been a sweet, obedient, kind-hearted child, but I see Christ in you.  I see the desire to do right.  I see the extra sparkle in your eyes.  I see the desire to learn God's Word. You have been a reminder to me of what it is like to shine God's love. 




Another big accomplishment for you this year is that you are now reading.  You started the school year not really wanting to read.  You thought it was too hard, and tears were shed (from both of us at times). But over the last 9 months you have learned so much.  You have always loved books, but you shied away from reading them.  You wanted someone to read them to you or you just wanted to look at the pictures.  Now you read books daily, and when I sit down and let you read to me I am amazed at the words you are able to figure out.  You have worked so hard and done so well.  And I should probably mention that even though you say you love every subject in school, math is your favorite.




You are such a snuggle bug.  If your dad or I lay on the couch (especially if we grab a blanket), you will be curled up with us in less than 30 seconds. 




 


It's amazing to me how you can be such a serious and such a silly child.  You are quite a thinker, but you often like to leave those thoughts in your head instead of sharing them.  You can also take a serious conversation and turn it upside down with some random comment.  Sometimes it drives me crazy, but most the time you just make me laugh.
 

 
 



 
 
We get this face a lot.  We call it your stink face. Most of the time you are doing it to be funny.  And most of the time it is. You are an animated girl!

Macy,
You are such a beautiful little girl.  I know you get tired of me saying this, but I really wish I could put a brick on your head to stop you from growing up.  This past year has been such an amazing year for you and you have blossomed beautifully with all of the changes. You are such a special, tender-hearted little girl and I love you so incredibly much.  I hope you have a special day today.  I can't wait to start celebrating with you.

Children's Choir Musical

Sunday night our girls sang in the children's musical. Macy sang a few songs at the beginning and then the older kids performed "In God We Trust."

The former governor and his wife were Uncle Sam and Lady Columbia. It was such a wonderful performance and both girls worked hard to learn their songs.

Macy's 6th Birthday Party!

We had Macy's party the weekend before her birthday.  We usually wait until after their birthday to have the party, but we did it early this year for a couple of reasons.  With everything going on in the month of May I think we will have to go back to celebrating later in the month! 

Rain was in the forecast for the entire day, so the days before the party I was scrambling for a plan B.  We had planned to have a bounce house for her birthday.  Friends of ours have just started their own business and we wanted to support this new adventure.  Plus, it made for an easy party planning on my part...that is until the forecast of rain all day.  We kept waiting and waiting because the chance of rain kept going down.  I knew if I cancelled it then it wouldn't rain and if I had it set up then it would rain. ha! I took a chance and I am so glad I did.  Not one drop of rain fell and the kids had such a fantastic time. 

The bounce house was huge and had a slide.  There was plenty of room for all of the kids and the little ones weren't trampled over! 

There was a little incident where Macy had her front tooth knocked out. It was definitely very loose, but wasn't quite ready to come out on it's own.  After a little drama over the blood she was right back to playing and having a great time. 

Anxiously awaiting it to blow up again after dinner. The first time the kids saw it go up was from the inside.  Unfortunately we tripped the circuit and it started collapsing on them.  Only the 22 month old was a little frightened.  The others thought it was great fun.

And yet again the cardboard boxes come out for some sledding.

The adults saw the bounce house was empty so we climbed in.  We obviously weren't very secretive about it because we were quickly ambushed by some excited kids. 

Macy said she had such a wonderful time at her party.  And tonight is the last night I will have her as my 5 year old.  I told her I might cry myself to sleep tonight. :)  I absolutely love the ages of my girls right now, and I wish time would just freeze with them right here.

Mother's Day

 Kayla has been keeping secrets for a few weeks, and she finally shared them with me the week before Mother's Day.  We had a special, yummy Mother's Tea at her school, we played a 20 questions game, she presented me with this adorable plate, and she also gave me a spiral bound collection of Bible verses she had written. I enjoyed a great afternoon with my oldest.

On Mother's Day the girls gave me sweet homemade cards and a speaker for my cell phone.  Now we can play our music outside as loud as our neighbors. ha! After church we went to Marc's parents for lunch, came home for naps and resting, and then it was straight to my sister's house for dinner with my family. It was a busy day, but I am thankful for the three special girls that made me a mother.

The Last Soccer Game

We wrapped up the soccer season last weekend. The kids had a great season, but I'm glad we now get our Saturdays back. The church is moving their soccer season to the fall this year, so we'll take three months off and start up again!
