Day 5 - Anchorage

Tuesday was a rainy day in Anchorage.  We wanted to find something to do inside, so we opted for the Anchorage Museum. It was not crowded at all, and the girls loved all of the hands-on activities.

Native Inuit artifacts.

It was still raining when we left, so we just headed to lunch at one of our favorite spots.

The Moose's Tooth was a must visit on our trip to Anchorage.  We just love their pizza, and we had a great salad to go with it. It is probably one of our favorite pizza joints we have ever been to.

While we were waiting on our food it started to hail outside.  The girls of course wanted to run out and check it out.

We don't always try to understand.

We ended our afternoon doing some souvenir shopping. We were downtown and ended up with quite the experience.  Because it was not tourist season in Alaska, there weren't many people in the store.  We were letting the girls wander around some, but I started to notice these two men that kept showing up in whatever section we moved to.  I quickly gathered the girls, told them to stay with me, and let Marc know I was uncomfortable.  The girls even mentioned that they noticed the same thing.  We wrapped up quickly and went to checkout.  They went to check out at the same time.  Marc grabbed a $3 pocket knife out of a container by the register. One of the girls asked why he was buying the knife, and he quickly responded, loud enough so they could hear, "You can never have too many pocket knives." We made our exit and they ended up heading off in another direction.  We were on high alert all the way to the car. In talking to the girls we made sure to explain why we had our concerns.  Of course they could have been doing their own shopping for family at home, but I was just very uneasy with the situation. After that adventure we were definitely ready to get back to the hotel for the night.
