CCA Nationals!

Kayla's clogging team qualified for Nationals with all of their routines.  There are 2 organizations she clogs with, so this is the first of 2 opportunities for her to compete at Nationals. This weekend also happened to be the weekend that the Johnsons were coming back in town.  They were so gracious to drive all night and then meet us and some other friends for breakfast before we hit the road.

We've missed our people!

Nationals is held in Nashville, so after checking into our hotel we decided to check out the Parthenon.

Brooke loved this little mosaic dragon outside.

Interpretations of ancient art.

We were staying at Opryland Hotel. The girls thought it was pretty incredible that this was the hotel.

The child is drawn to water...

We took a picture of the two little ones many years ago next to this same horse. Maybe I'll be able to get my hands on that older picture soon.

We all enjoyed watching the water and lights show for a bit.

Competition morning started early! It was a good thing we were staying at the same hotel the event was held at.

Cousins even came to watch part of the competition!

We had some friends who happened to be in town for a football game. They were staying at the same hotel, and so they stopped by to see some clogging too.   We've known these little girls since they were born!

Taking the stage!

She is clearly loving this.

Time to refuel!

It was a LONG day of competition.  Kayla had to be ready to go before 8, and we were there until 11pm because they were in a dance-off for their hoedown.

It definitely called for a little late-night pick-me-up.

She tried to hard!

Kayla and her team walked away with 1st place in all of your dances and overall in hoedown! That means they were the top team in the junior age bracket for amateur!
