A Fun Filled February

 So the reality is that I quickly get behind in my blogging.  It is currently the middle of June, and I'm working on my February posts.  I can't remember what I've posted about this girl and her Science Fair project, and many of her awards came after this picture was taken, but I'll put them here to have them in one place. 

The King's Academy - 3rd place

GA Regionals - Honorable Mention

Georgia State Science Fair - 2nd Honors (She scored in the 80-90% of all junior project submissions for the state of Georgia.)

I'm so proud of how hard she worked on this project and her willingness to put in the extra work to participate in the other levels of competition - including a panel interview.

Meanwhile, Brooke started another collection and currently has them organized all over my kitchen island. Balance is good in life. 

Marc got the raised beds in place and filled them with good soil.  He said if we can't grow things in here then we have problems. ha!

We started some seeds indoors.

But then she started helping her study for her test.

Kicking off February

 February started off with some excitement for Kayla. She and Marc went to purchase her a car! Marc did a lot of research before settling on the Honda CR-V. An added bonus was that I didn't have to go with them to sit through the purchasing process.  I made Kayla go so she could better appreciate what her dad went through to purchase the car. ha! She loves it and is super excited.

The girls had decorated this cut tree from the storm a few months ago.  Today we drove by and saw that someone added a "Get Well Soon" balloon to it. Hilarious!

We had an early Valentine's dinner with some seafood.

We kept celebrating Valentine's Day with cheese fondue and dessert at The Melting Pot.  The girls love coming here.

Sometimes I don't ask questions, but I always love being with these silly people.

These people are my greatest treasures.

Other January Happenings

 Macy earned 3rd place in the Science Fair at King's last fall.  She then decided to continue to enter her project into the GAPPS state science fair (the organization our school is a part of) as well as the Regional Science Fair for the state of Georgia.  She earned 2nd place at GAPPS and an honorable mention at the regional science fair.  We are so proud of her and her hard work! If you have any questions about the fire resistancy of insulation, she's your gal.  

Brooke got some new glasses.

Pickleball

Drainage from our neighbors property continues to be a problem, so this is mar's newest solution.  A tarp over the downed tree should direct most of the water into this drain which then leads out under our driveway into a ditch.  Fingers crossed this solution works. 

We are getting a head start on some raised garden beds for our new garden area.  I have high hopes for this little garden this year.

Brooke has rediscovered her love of building with legos.  She tore apart one of their buildings and is working to put it back together again. 

It's been a quiet winter, but we have been accomplishing much. I'm looking forward to seeing what February 2021 brings to us. 

Fun With Friends

 We always love having the Windhams over.  Macy and Mia have been working hard on their little house. 

The number of squishmallows these two have is more than I want to count.  They are always bringing a bag full of them to each others houses.  Who cares if we have pajamas and a toothbrush, we have our squishmallows!

Brooke is really the only one that plays with dolls anymore, but she doesn't like to play them alone.  Having Sophie over allows for the perfect opportunity for some doll playing.

All in a day's work!

 

Happy 11th Birthday, Brooke!

Brooke has been anxiously awaiting her birthday. The countdown has been on for weeks.

 She had a relaxing day and spent some time in her new hideout.

 She wanted to go to her new favorite restaurant for dinner.

She's one loved little girl, and I know she enjoys being the baby of the family.

Brooke, 

You are full of life.  You wake up everyday ready to have fun.  I will never be able to grasp how that many words can come out of one child in a day, but you love to talk and let us all know what's going on in your head.  You wear your emotions on your sleeve and feel deeply.  I know God will use all of these characteristics for his glory in what He has planned for your life, and I can't wait to see that plan unfold.  You are greatly loved, and I hope you have felt special on your special day.

Dreary Days

 It has been raining so much recently.  Our neighbor did some grading and knocking down of trees in his yard recently, and that has made a mess of drainage issues for us.  We've always had to deal with the water coming down this hill, but with the amount of rain we've had plus the lack of vegetation to slow things down, we have a big flooding issue.  Thankfully it didn't make it to the house.

Even through the rainy days we've been able to make some changes in the girls' rooms.  Kayla built this bookshelf to match the headboard and nightstand she made.

Brooke decided she was ready to change from her loft bed to a regular bed. She's loving it!
