Covering Our Home with the Word

Before we started building our home I told Marc I wanted to write God's word on the framing of our home.  I wanted every room to have a verse, and it seemed like such a daunting task.  Finally one night when Marc was gone, I put the kids in bed and pulled out my Bible.  I prayed that the Lord would direct me to verses that spoke to our family and our home, and the Lord BLESSED that time in His Word.  It was such an amazing experience to have the entire Bible in front of me but to see God lead me to so many specific verses. I have these verses saved on my computer, but I want them here on my blog.  I print out copies of my blog each year, one for Marc and me and one for each of the girls.  I want the girls to know that the rooms of the home they grew up in were covered in scripture.  It is part of our foundation, something that will not be changed or destroyed. 

Foyer

 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.  John 3:16-17

Dining Room

 

 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.  Impress them on your children.  Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, and when you lie down, and when you get up.   

Deuteronomy 6:5-7

Now therefore may it please you to bless the house of your servant, so that t may continue forever before you.  For you, O Lord God, have spoken, and with your blessing shall the house of your servant be blessed forever.  2 Samuel 7:29

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.  Ephesians 4:32

School Room

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12

Teach them His decrees and instructions, and show them the way they are to love and how they are to behave.  Exodus 18:20

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.  Ephesians 4:29

Dining Room

Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name.  Psalm 100:4

 Kitchen

By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; by knowledge the rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant riches.  Proverbs 24:3-4

but man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.

Breakfast Room

He took the bread and gave thanks to God in the presence of them all.  Acts 27:35

Office Desk

Both riches and honor come from You.  1 Chronicles 29:12

Master Bedroom

Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.  For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the Church.  Ephesians 5:22-23

Husbands, love your wives just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her.  Ephesians 5:25

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.  Proverbs 15:1

Master Bathroom

Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.  Galatians 6:9

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.  Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. 1 Peter 3:3-4
