Back to School 2022

 After a whirlwind start to August getting ready for school to start, the girls headed off to school.  

Brooke is in 7th, Macy is in 10th, and Kayla is a SENIOR.

Kayla doesn't start at school until Wednesday, so it was just these two that went off with me to school.

Kayla is taking one Dual Enrollment class on campus at KSU as well as 2 classes online at Truett McConnell. She did have to go in for her Economy class today, though.

First day with one class wears a girl out. She did choose to wake up early to see us out the door this morning, though.

Wednesday was the first TKA day for her. Senior year, here she comes! I'm praying big things for her this year.

Maine Day 9 - Portsmouth to Portland to Atlanta

 Our vacation had come to an end.  We had to drive back to Portland for our afternoon flight.

Our final lighthouse visit was to Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse. We did some rock-hopping to get there.

Good-bye Maine. You were so good to us.  The weather was amazing, the adventures were memorable, and the time with my family was priceless.

Maine Day 8 - Portsmouth, NH

 Jackie and her family had flights out today, but we had an extra day, so we headed to Portsmouth, New Hampshire.  I just loved this city! Our first stop was Strawbery Banke Museum. The houses here date back to the 1600s.  It was a really well-done living museum.

This house was fun.  You had to go through the rooms and put the clues together to see who was sick and what their illness was.  

Lunch was at Googie's sandwich shop, and Brooke enjoyed a peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwich.  Her mind was blown.

The girls got to learn how to weave on a loom.  It is pretty complicated and amazing at the same time. 

Sometimes it is best not to ask questions.  As a teacher, I love the Benjamin Franklin quote on the wall.

New England architecture is one of my favorites.

Prescott Park was beautiful.

Portsmouth, you were a lovely stop, and I'm glad we chose to visit.

Maine Day 7 - Portland

 Monday morning we found ourselves grabbing our usual vacation donuts.  We had to try The Holy Donut.  They were potato donuts, and while we are glad we tried them, we'd probably try a different place next time.

We bought tickets to ride the narrow gauge railroad.  It took us a couple miles down the coastline and back again.  The narration was very interesting.

How many lighthouses can we visit? Bug Light Lighthouse was #4 for us.

Len Libby's Choclate shop which began in the 1920s. Marc is related to Libby somehow. The store has a life-sized chocolate moose that weighs 1700 pounds

We ate at DiMillo's on the Water for Jackie's birthday.  I had the lazy lobster which was wonderful.  All the yummy lobster meat and none of the work.
