Coca-Cola Museum

It's no secret we are a Coca-Cola family.  Not that we drink a lot of it, but it is definitely far superior to Pepsi. Over the summer we took the girls to the Coca-Cola museum.  They had never been and it has been many years since I had last visited.

The museum is interactive and the girls enjoyed playing with the different displays.  This is one where the logo disappears and you try to recreate it on the screen.  The logo then reappears and you can see how close you were.

And of course everyone's favorite spot, the tasting room. We managed to get Marc and Brooke to try the Beverly, but no one else would try it after Brooke let them know how awful it was. After enjoying many samples we saw the "normal" drinks in the corner.  I really tried to not drink much of the soda, but these machines had the best cherry coke I've had.

She gets away with more than she should with these eyes. :)

We enjoyed a great family day even if we spent way too much time in Atlanta traffic. Par for the course I guess.

Boating Adventures

A couple of months ago I mentioned the idea of renting a boat on vacation.  We decided that would be our anniversary gift to each other, and we had an amazing morning. Macy was pretty unsure of this adventure, but she quickly came to love every moment of it.  We spent 4 1/2 hours exploring Perdido Bay as well as some of the bayous. On a couple of occasions we saw some dolphins. We have been on dolphin cruises before, but this was so fun to be able to search them out and watch them as long as you wanted.

We then found some small Florida islands to anchor at for a bit. The water was crystal clear. 

The girls enjoyed catching hermit crabs.  I think they found about 14 in all.

And each of the girls had an opportunity to captain the ship.  They absolutely loved it!

Macy got pretty adventurous and would steer us right into the wakes of other boats so that we would bump up and down.  She is my thrill seeker!

 

 

And somebody crashed on the way back.  We joke about how she fell asleep in the "No Wake Zone" for the boats.  Oh, and the girls also saw a police boat. They thought that was pretty neat. 

We grabbed lunch at our favorite restaurant, the Shrimp Basket, then we headed to the beach for a couple of hours before calling it a day. Even with the nap they were all wiped out that evening. 

15 Years at the Beach

Part of the reason we headed to the beach a day early is so that we wouldn't be traveling on our anniversary. It's funny that the last three summer vacations have been dictated by price and availability, and that put us at the beach on our anniversary.

After breakfast we headed to the condo. It wasn't quite ready for us yet, but we just did a quick change into swimsuits and hit the pool.  The girls absolutely love this pool.

That night we got ready for dinner at Wolf Bay Lodge. Fried shrimp and crab claws. Yum!

Before we left though Marc had a surprise for me.  He called me out on the balcony and presented me with my grandmother's ring that he had resized for me. I wish I could remember more of what he said, but I too surprised. He'd be the first to tell you that I usually figure things out in advance, but he managed this one without me finding out. 

We enjoyed the evening with our precious girls.  God has been so good to us. We are most undeserving, but we are grateful. 

Orange Beach Vacation

Last Tuesday we loaded up the car and headed to our regular beach spot - Orange Beach, Alabama. We couldn't get into our condo until the next day, but we decided to go ahead and drive down and spend one night at a nearby hotel. After getting settled a bit we headed over to one of our must visit restaurants - Lambert's Cafe. We caught ourselves some "throwed rolls" and enjoyed a meal before heading to the beach.

It was a perfect evening for the beach.  We stayed for a couple of hours, it wasn't crowded, and the temperature and breeze were just perfect. 

We love visiting our little paradise - soft, white sand and clear waters.
