Mr. Brown Can Moo

Have you ever read this book? It's a Dr. Seuss book all about the sounds Mr. Brown can make. Macy just found it and brought it to me saying "moo, moo, eek, eek." We've only read it a handful of times, but she knew exactly what book it was. Children amaze me at the things they can remember.

"I'm Not Arguing Anymore!"

The girls were eating lunch in the car the other day. Oh, and speaking of that, we have entered a new realm of fast food. I used to go to Chick-fil-A (yes, I could eat there every day) and get an 8 pack of nuggets and then hand them one at a time to the girls in the back. Well not anymore. Macy wants to hold her own box and she makes that very clear. So now instead of a box to share we have to order 2 kids meals. Anyway, I digress. The girls were eating and apparently Macy was involving her feet in the process. Kayla was trying to explain to her that we don't put our feet on our food but Macy was just chomping away ignoring her sister. Finally Kayla gave an exasperated sigh and said "Macy, I'm not going to argue with you anymore!"

Fortunately and Unfortunately

Fortunately I was able to put all of the girls' clean clothes in their dressers while they were napping and bring their dirty clothes downstairs. Their dressers and hamper are in their closet. The closet was made from our unfinished crawl space and it had an access door through Kayla's old closet, but it's only about 3 feet tall. Marc had the brilliant idea of adding a full size door in the new closet so that we had access to what was left unfinished without going through a 3 foot tall door. Now we have this secret passage from Kayla's old closet into the new one. I was able to slip in and put all of their clothes up while they slept!

Unfortunately I started the washing machine. It's right below their room and Macy woke up asking"what's that." Bummer.

Nap Time

She finally did it. Macy managed to put herself to sleep Wednesday night, Thursday nap, and Thursday night. We even put both girls in bed at the same time for yesterdays nap and bedtime and they both went to sleep. Friday afternoon? Yeah right. I read them a couple of books, rocked, sang songs, basically got both of them nice and sleepy. I leave the room to Macy crying, but she's only been doing that for about a minute and going to sleep. So what's happening now you ask? Well they are squealing and having a grand ole time in there. They are standing on their respective beds and Kayla will say "it's daytime." Then Kayla dives down and Macy plops down. Kayla says "it's night time" and Macy says "nite-nite." Then they giggle and repeat. It is too stinkin' cute! I'll give them a little bit longer but they both need a nap.

Easter

We had a great day celebrating our risen Savior. Kayla and I have spent a lot of time learning the story of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. We are so blessed to be a part of a church that pours into our children and teaches them straight from God's Word.

What a busy weekend! We are completely worn out, plus we decided to go ahead and move Macy to the new room. Kayla was so disappointed that we weren't going to do it last night that we decided to go ahead and give it a try. When we first moved Kayla to a big girl bed (granted she had been in her new room for several weeks as we were getting it ready) all went really smoothly for about a week until she realized she could get out of the bed. Then we had about 3-4 rough nights of getting to sleep. After that all was good. Well of course being child #2 Macy has been getting on and off of Kayla's bed for a while. Should be an interesting transition. Last night we had to rock her to sleep and stand by her bed until she was out cold all the while trying to get excited little Kayla to quit flipping around and sitting up in bed to check things out. For nap today I had to again rock her to sleep. I got tired of the crying and she had already run down the hall twice. Tonight they were both SO tired from the busy weekend that Marc rocked Macy to sleep pretty quickly and then Kayla and I tip-toed in and she went right to sleep. A MUCH smoother night. We'll see what tomorrow holds!

Finally, the New Room

The night before Kayla's birthday Marc took apart her bed to move it to the new room. We put her mattress on the floor of our room. Macy thought it was the best thing and kept crawling in and saying "nite-nite." Surprisingly Kayla slept the entire night on the floor and didn't come crawling into our bed in the middle of the night.

The reveal - we covered the outside of the door in wrapping paper for her birthday. It took a few seconds to get a reaction, but they both really liked it. They went around exploring to see what was in all of the boxes then they crawled onto their beds and danced around. There was a lot of running around in the room. It's so nice that there is space to play now.

I managed to make the curtain, embroider their names on 2 sets of pillowcases, and cover the cushion for the toy box while Marc was out of town. The girls had no idea what I had spread out all over the kitchen table for 2 days.

This is the dress up corner. The toy box is full of all of the princess dresses that tend to get lost in the playroom and there is a mirror to twirl around in front of.

Happy Birthday Kayla!

Kayla turned 4 years old on Saturday. We had a Little Einsteins party at our house with a few friends and family. We had a lot of family in town for the weekend so it was great that they could join us for her celebration. We did a very quick project where the kids made batons like Leo uses to conduct on Little Einsteins. They had a good time with this.

Kayla was given so many wonderful gifts. Her friends really know her well! This was a Cinderella dress and coat and she modeled it immediately.

Husband Post

Okay, so this is my first post. I was told that I can't pick the background unless I contribute to the blog. So here's my contribution! I don't like the new background either though because it's hard to read too. Maybe it's just my eyes getting older along with the gray hair coming in.

Thank you, Stephanie, for changing the background so that my feeble eyes could read it better. Now can you pick a better background than the one I picked?

Next time you won't leave the computer when you're logged into the blog! And yes, I managed to do this while home with the two girls by myself while you had a night "off" from the girls.

New Background

I changed the background because Marc didn't like the other one. I'm being a submissive wife. :) He said the old one was too hard to read. He picked this one out, but I think this one is too hard to read. I love my husband, though!

Busy Busy

We are almost done with the room! All we have left is to move Kayla's bed (we'll do that Friday night), dresser, nightstand, and move a desk and TV out of the room. It has come together so well and I promise pictures, but not until after the girls see the room. :) It is so hard to believe that she will be 4 on Saturday. Macy is now wearing the clothes that Kayla was wearing when Macy was born. Talk about a shock to your system! We are looking forward to a very busy weekend and I will definitely have pictures to post.
