Walking!

Macy is walking!! Well, sort of. She'd still rather crawl but she has been taking lots of steps. Today I counted 17 steps, but she only went about 3 feet. It was more like wobbling. It's amazing what the girl finds on the floor to put in her mouth, and I even swept and vacuumed today. Guess when you are that close you see everything. I'll see if I can figure out how to get a video up - or more than likely Marc will figure out how to get a video up. (Thanks honey!)

Nothing She Won't Try

We have a monkey. She is always trying to get up on our recliner, couch, or rocking chair. Today I found her on top of the table that goes with this chair. Can't take my eyes off of her!

So how does a 13 month old get to where she wants to go when she wants to take her milk with her? She walks. Oh no, not Macy. She has no desire to let go and walk so she just carries things in her mouth.
Macy loves being pushed around in this by her sister, but Kayla can't wait until Macy is big enough to push her around!
By the way, we got rained out on the 4th of July so we watched fireworks on the television. That's why I didn't post any pictures. Hopefully next year!

Happy 4th of July!!

I've never put Macy's hair in a sprout like this, but it really grew on me. Brings back memories of the Flinstones...

We went to a parade this morning and it was HOT. Kayla preferred watching the parade from the shade with her Nini. Kayla sat in a fire truck, but wasn't that thrilled. Now everyone is taking naps so we can try to see some fireworks this evening. We'll let you know how it goes. Dusk around here isn't until around 9:30 or so. Macy is usually in bed around 8 and Kayla around 8:30.

Summer Fun

When Kayla was Macy's age she loved to empty the magazine rack. I think kids just naturally love to do this because Macy has taken up the hobby. Now, Kayla loves to help Macy out. They have quite a good time throwing (and tearing) magazines!
Sometimes my camera frustrates me, but when I can get action shots like this I love it.
Our little sports player. She loves "soccer player ball."
Macy enjoys playing peek-a-boo, but WHY she wants to play it when she is eating is beyond me. I don't like mess, and we buy baby wipes in bulk. Here she is playing peek-a-boo with pizza sauce all over her hands and the next picture is Macy covered in pizza sauce. I'm glad I didn't put too much on their pizzas today! It was all in her hair and over her eye and eyebrow.
Kayla's new "funny face." Didn't our parents tell us our eyes would freeze like that? She thinks it's so funny to see "2 Macy's" or whatever she is looking at.

Pool Time

Macy is not a fan of water unless she is in a confined space or being held. She won't take a bath unless she is in her bath seat (which is probably a good thing because it keeps her safe from her sister). At the pool she takes about half an hour to relax and enjoy herself. Well, my mom got her this little pool for her birthday and we blew it up yesterday. I figured that at least Kayla would enjoy it. When we put Macy in she got really stiff and fussed a little, but very quickly started to enjoy herself. She was evening moving around and playing! Maybe this is a first step to taking a bath without that bulky bath seat taking up 1/2 the tub.

It's pretty hard to get a picture with both girls in it. I wanted one with these outfits, but this is the best I could do. I'll try again after their naps.

Braves Game

For Father's Day I got Marc tickets to a Braves game. We left Macy with my mom. Kayla kept asking when we were going to play, and she didn't pay much attention to the game. We walked around some and played a little, but she spent more time eating peanuts than anything else. That girls loves her "peanups!"

Running to the base. She LOVED it!
Within 10 minutes of being in the car she was sound asleep.

Old Pictures

I know it's been over a week since I've last updated, and honestly I haven't taken many pictures. The first one is from Macy's cardiologist appointment. She did so great and was so still for the nurse and doctor.

Here are the girls with Marc on Father's Day.

Macy's Cardiologist Follow-Up

We had Macy's 1 year follow-up today. The PPS murmur is now gone. That was expected to go away as her heart and lungs grew. The cardiologist still heard a murmur, but said it was just a normal murmur that many kids will have as they are growing. Her EKG had the same results as they did when she was 1 month old, and we did not have an echo cardiogram. He said that that there would be no treatment at this age even if the ASD (hole between the atrium) was still there. We will go back when she is 2 for another EKG and echo, but he is expecting that the hole will have closed itself and she won't have to ever go back again! I am so thankful that we have access to Sibley Heart Center and even more thankful that Macy is doing great and is expected to heal up without surgery. Oh, she managed to put on 3 oz. in 3 1/2 weeks, so at this rate she will be 18 months old before we can put her forward facing in the car seat! Maybe we'll start feeding her pizza and cookies all day! ha

Kayla wanted to "fix Macy's hair."

Kayla's cousin was in town for a week and all the girls plus a couple of friends had a tea party at Grammie and Grampie's house.
We went to visit Kayla's cousins in Huntsville. They had a "Cousins Party" where we celebrated all 6 birthdays at one time. I don't really care for this kind of icing, but that is obviously Kayla's favorite part.
My timid children finally having fun at the pool. Kayla loved jumping in and Macy started enjoying herself after about an hour. We had the best time and the pool felt great! I was amazed at how warm it was.
Sharing Carrots. I think Kayla ate at least 2 snack bags of carrots plus an entire piece of pizza. She worked up quite an appetite!

Portraits

Yesterday we took the girls to have their pictures taken. It was for Kayla's 3 year and Macy's 1 year. Neither of them were quite in the mood. At least they weren't fussy or crying - just no smiles. Thankfully they take about 100 pictures so we did get some good ones. Here are just a few of them.
