Stone Mountain

The girls and I surprised Marc with a little adventure for his birthday.  We headed out to Stone Mountain for the day and had such a wonderful time. It has been a long time since we had done anything other than the laser show. They had a little ropes course that all three girls enjoyed but Brooke was pretty obsessed with it. She probably went through the course 20 times.

She did the zip line one time and that was enough for her.

Kayla and Macy LOVED it.

The older two climbed the rock wall.  On the first try Kayla made it about halfway up before she decided it was too high.  Macy, who is not a fan of heights at all, went about 1/4 of the way up.

Marc took Kayla on this tree top adventure.  She loved it. Macy had no interest in doing it.  Again, the heights thing.

The Indian Festival was going on this weekend as well.  We took a quick stop over to see some of the Native American dances, walk in some tee-pees, and learn about a different culture.  My great-grandmother was full blooded Cherokee Indian so I kept telling the girls that these were there people. Even my little blue eyed blond haired girl is part Cherokee.

In all of these years living in Georgia and visiting Stone Mountain I had never been to the top.  We took the sky-lift up.  The leaves are beginning to change and it was beautiful up there.

And it was quite windy and chilly. Marc snapped a couple of pictures before we were all ready to head back inside.

We had time for one last adventure and the girls wanted to return to the ropes course. This time Kayla made it up the wall twice to ring the bell and Macy made it about halfway up!

We were all exhausted by the end of the day, but it was a perfect day.  We so enjoyed our little family adventure. I didn't get pictures of everything, but we also played in the barn and had a great time shooting balls at each other. It's been a while since I have laughed that hard. We also had a picnic lunch on the lawn and enjoyed a train ride around the mountain. I have a feeling that a Stone Mountain visit is going to become an annual fall adventure for our family.
